We stopped at Jodi’s mom’s house on the way home today. We went to church which was followed by a council meeting, and then we ate an early lunch (brunch, really) with my parents.
We stopped at an estate sale with some of the most outrageous pricing that I’ve come across. They had He-Man toys from the 80s marked at like ten and fifteen dollars. These weren’t in the box or special collector’s editions, just garden-variety used toys. In nice shape, but nothing of great value. They did have the He-Man castle, and I remember how much I had wanted that thing when I was little.
Inside the house they had a stack of old comics with prices of $50 and $75. One didn’t even have a cover on it, and none were the brand name superhero comics that sometimes can demand big money. I had hoped to pick up the pile for a buck or something to use for collages.
After the sale, we went to Jodi’s mom’s house to pick up a couple things. Her mom wasn’t home, so while Jodi went into the house, I stood before her pond, watching the fish, and listening to the music that is always playing around the pond to deter critters from munching on the fish.
The radio station was replaying an old Casey Kasam countdown show. I didn’t catch the year, but I did hear him introduce this song, and let me tell you, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard Casey Kasam say: “She’s a Bad Mama Jama.”
You just never know what little pleasures life has in store for you.
