By about 8:15 AM, I
wanted to go back to sleep. I was sitting at my work desk, knowing I had a
conference call at 9:30 AM, and wanting nothing more than to go home and back
to sleep.
Starting on Sunday,
I had felt a tickle in my throat, but I thought maybe it was only allergies. I bought
some allergy meds, and I thought that would take care of it.
It progressed to
more of a cold or flu today. I was exhausted. My chest was congested. My voice
was raspy.
I told myself I
should try to make it until noon. As the morning progressed, more work came in
and I couldn’t pass it off to others.
I took my lunch to
the river. I ate slowly, my appetite not great. I reclined the seat in the jeep
and closed my eyes for the last ten minutes or so.
I powered through
the afternoon, finishing a proposal revision, and leaving at my usual time.
When I arrived home, I changed, grabbed a blanket and pillow, and dropped down
on the couch.
I remained that way
until we ate, and we listened to this album.
“Did we decide if we
knew any other RATT songs other that ‘Round and Round?’”
I shrug, my brain is
too foggy to think about it.
After that I slept
until 9 PM, waking only to have a few grapes, brush my teeth, and go to bed.
